The 90-10 Rule

My mom taught me how to simply 'pick my battles' early in my pre-teenage years. She noticed that I would get extremely upset over numerous situations that weren't worth getting upset over in the first place. Once this rule was introduced to me, my stress level decreased because I was no longer freaking out over every little thing. I learned to let the little things slide and only make notice out of the big things. This rule applies to me a lot since I have arrived at college. Being at college and on your own you have to learn how to get along with the people you associate with everyday. This would be hard if you were to be up tight about every little thing. So like the book suggests, if I really don't care where me and my friend go to eat that night, I will simply go with the flow. I will do so until something that i really care about comes up and giving that I have gone with everything else up to that point, I am more opt to get my way on that said thing.

The 90-10 Rule is a great thing and for the most part I believe it works the majority of the time.

  1. That is exactly how I feel too. Being uptight at college would bring a lot of unneeded stress to our lives.

  2. This is such a good way motto to live by because i think its a sure way to happiness when you only concern your time with things of great importance.

  3. This is very similar to what I said as to only care for the things that can make an impact on your life and leave the little things to be decided on the fly and not really worry what happens.

  4. I completely agree that it is a very important thing to have in college because there is a lot of stuff going on and you definitely cannot worry so much about every little thing. It can be used especially when it comes to dealing with your roommate because you don't always agree on things but if it isn't a big deal then you should let it go sometimes instead of having it bother you.

  5. I as well go with the flow on going out to eat unless i am feeling something that i really want. And that is true that you have to pick your own battles in life and everything like that.
